Ambulatory Surgery Centers

Ambulatory surgery centers are also known as same-day surgery centers or outpatient surgery centers. Procedures performed in an ambulatory surgery center are more extensive than those performed at doctors’ offices, but generally do not require an overnight stay at a hospital (outpatient procedure). Many procedures are performed at ambulatory surgery centers including orthopedic surgeries (knees, shoulders, elbows, wrists) and colonoscopies.
